1 month old :)

The doctors visit went well this week. Andrew is doing great :) He weighs 9lbs 14 oz now and is 22 inches. He had to get his hepatitis B shot at the doctors so that was no fun. He really did not like that at all. Mish went home yesterday after spending the weekend with us. It was really nice to have some extra help and some extra sleep :) Yesterday Andrew was so cranky all day. Anytime he was not sleeping he was screaming. I felt so bad. It was just a tough day yesterday. But today has been better so far at least. He gave me a big smile today so that always makes up for all the screaming, haha.

New pics from Mish

Mish flew into town on Saturday to help us out for a few days so it is really nice to have her here :) Last night she took over the 2:00am feeding so I got to sleep for like 5 hours straight! It was nice. Everything is going good this week though :) Andrew is still being pretty cranky at night especially. I think he has a little bit of reflux going on so we will ask the doctor on Tuesday if there is anything we can do for that.

Sharing Time :) I can prepare to serve a mission now

I still can't believe that I am the primary president. I have been so busy trying to get everything organized for primary but it is still a little crazy. We finally did get someone called to play the piano so that helps a lot with music time. The sharing time this week was on preparing to serve a mission now.  I got a suitcase and filled it full of objects that would help the kids prepare to serve a mission someday and also shared the missionary story of Ammon.The kids really liked it :)
These are the objects I had in the suitcase

• A Frying Pan: This is a reminder that missionaries need to be able to cook for themselves. Young people can start now learning to cook by helping their mom or dad make dinner.
• An Alarm Clock: Missionaries have a strict schedule they keep, including going to bed by 10:30 and being up by 6:30. An alarm clock is a must have. And young people can start now to learn to follow the Lord’s counsel in D&C 88: 124, “retire to thy bed early, that ye may not be weary; arise early, that your bodies and your minds may be invigorated.”.
• A Piggy Bank: The LDS mission cost for young men and women in the United States is $400 a month which comes to about $10,000 for a two-year mission. It’s never too early for young people to start saving as much money as they can for their mission.
• The Scriptures: Missionaries teach the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ from the Bible and the Book of Mormon. Young people can start now reading the scriptures individually and with their families. By doing so they will be more familiar with the scriptures and they will be better prepared missionaries.
• Shoes: Missionaries need to be prepared to walk…a lot. These shoes are a reminder to young people to stay healthy and strong and to keep the word or wisdom so they can “run and not be weary… walk and not faint.” (D&C 89:20)
• A Hymn Book: Missionaries sing hymns a lot of times at the beginning of discussions, in order to bring the Spirit. Young children can begin early to know and appreciate the hymns of the Church. “For my soul delighteth in the song of the heart; yea, the song of the righteous is a prayer unto me.” (D&C 25:12)
• Faith In God books- Help you to learn good values and increase your knowledge of the church.
• A Photo of the Temple: Missionaries baptize people in order to get them started on the strait and narrow path that leads to eternal life. One of the next major spiritual steps, one that brings even more joy to missionaries, is to see converts go to the temple to receive those ordinances. Young people can begin now to learn about the temple and set goals to go inside one day.
• The Ensign or Friend: Church magazines are a great resource for building faith and learning the gospel, which will aid in mission preparation. All young people should have access to read Church magazines.

First Beach day :)

 Splashed by the wave!

 Today we took Andrew to the beach for the first time. We went to Hollywood beach because you can park right next to the beach. He loved the beach, haha, it was so cute! He just loves being out in the sun with a little breeze. We sat in the tent most of the time because it was pretty sunny and hot and we didn't want him to burn. But when the clouds rolled in we took him down to the water and splashed his feet in the ocean. Brandon sat with him in the sand and he loved when the waves would come in and get him all wet. One time a big wave came though and completely splashed over his head and everything. That surprised him, but he just sputtered out all the sea water and went back to being happy man, haha. We felt bad for getting him so soaked, but at least he likes the water a lot. It was a super fun day at the beach :) I am enjoying not being pregnant anymore. I can finally lay out on my stomach and I don't feel as hot anymore either so I can stay out in the sun and actually enjoy it. We will definitely be taking Andrew back to the beach again soon. He was awake most the time at the beach so now he is wiped out, it's awesome :)

Week 3

This week has been a little crazy for us. Andrew is being much crankier than he has been before. He loves to still go outside and snuggle on Brandon's chest; those are the only things that really seem to help him. Today I took him down by the pool and splashed his feet in the water; he really liked that :) We also tried out his little play-jungle mat. He loves anything that plays music so he liked that too, although he is a little too small to play much with it yet. He batted at a couple of the toys a few times but it will be more fun when he gets a little bigger. It's hard to think of things to do with him all day. My days seem really really long lately. We went to the grocery store and the post office today but after that there isn't much else left to do. I don't know how old they are when they start getting interested in toys but that will be more fun when I can actually play with him. The doctor said Andrew is doing great. He weighs 8lbs 10 oz now which is pretty much in the middle of the growth curve so he is doing good. His eye is also ok; the doctor said it's probably just a blocked tear duct so we just have to keep wiping it out. Brandon has been super busy with school lately. He is gone till about 4 or 5 each day and is so tired when he gets home he just needs a nap. He is getting pretty stressed out with all the studying he is supposed to be doing. Everything is going pretty good for us though and we are loving the nice sunny weather we have had lately :)

Two weeks old

Well my parents left on last Thursday so it has just been us now. It was super nice to have them here to help ease us into being new parents. I get a lot less sleep now that they left but Andrew has been pretty good through the night so that is a great blessing. Lately he has been getting really cranky though. I think his stomach is hurting him. He really likes to go outside so whenever he is cranky we just go take a walk. My legs are sore from all the walking we have been doing! There is a pretty walking area called Bayfront park I like to go walking to so that is where we go. For the most part he is pretty happy and pleasant though. He really likes to swing too so the swing has become one of our best friends especially when we have to eat or something. We go through a ton of diapers everyday; it is incredible! He has hit both of us with his pee stream and the doctors, haha, its crazy how high he can get it! Tomorrow we have another doctors appointment. He is due for his 2 week shots; poor little guy. He has also had a lot of goop in his eye that looks like a conjunctivitis type thing so we will check that out with the doctor tomorrow.

Mom and Dad in town

My Dad was able to come see the baby this week. He flew late Sunday night. It has been really fun to have so much family come and visit and help with the baby so that we can ease into it. I am going to be a sleep deprived zombie when my parents leave, haha. Andrew likes to stay up all night making squawking sounds. He will lay there for hours and just talk and talk and talk but never cry. I keep trying to feed him and things when he wakes up but he just likes to be awake and talk which is very cute but makes for a long night for me. 

1 week old :)

Andrew is one week old already, we can't believe it! He is such a fun baby to have. Last night he slept for 4 hour stretches so I only had to feed him once during the night; it was really nice. He is gaining lots of weight and doing really well. The pediatrician had to weigh him twice because she couldn't believe a breast fed baby was gaining weight so fast, haha. He is just a good eater. He is so sweet too; he hardly ever cries and when he is sad he just wants to be snuggled and then he is happy again. I love being a mom!
