Miami

We are finally moved into our apartment! It was such a crazy week traveling down to Miami. The drive was 41 hours long. We had planned to visit all the temples along the way but only ended up making it to the Monticello temple in Southern Utah because Brandon got really sick. He ended up having to go the ER in Louisiana which was awful! The hospital was so dirty and it was in a really scary neighborhood. We got to the ER and Brandon was throwing up non-stop and finally they took us back and gave Brandon morphine and an IV. They did all sorts of tests and did not find the problem but at least the meds helped Brandon stop throwing up. It was the most tired and draining day of my life. I was so scared because I couldn't do anything for him! He was so sick. I was crying half the night because I was so worried about him and it took so long for the doctors to take us back to the ER room. They finally diagnosed Brandon with enteritis which is inflammation of the gut. We stayed at the ER for about 8 hours and then drove back to the hotel the next morning. I was so tired. We slept for about 5 hours and then headed off for Alabama. After we left they did a fecal test they couldn't do the night before and found that Brandon had C Difficil which is a bacteria infection in the gut. So they called us and said we needed to come straight back into the ER but by then we were already in Alabama so we decided to try to make it to Miami for Brandon to see another doctor. It was such an awful road trip. Poor Brandon had to stop every hour to go to the bathroom and the drive seemed to go on forever. But somehow we were blessed and we finally made it to Miami safely and the medicine the doctors had given us had started working at least enough to stop Brandon from throwing up constantly. We still need to get him into a GI doctor but we are very blessed that it has been at least kept in check for the move.
We also stopped San Antonio Texas and went to see the Alamo and the Riverwalk there. The Alamo was in the middle of the big city and was way smaller than I thought it would be. It was still pretty neat to see though I still need to read up on all that happened there. The Riverwalk was pretty cool too. There is a river in the middle of the city that is just surrounded by restaurants. So we walked around and ate at one of the restaurants there; it was really fun :) After San Antonio we went to Houston to visit some of Brandon's family's from his mission. We stayed at Maria's house and visited about 4 family's. Everyone was so nice. I had to get my brain thinking in Spanish again though because most of them spoke only Spanish, but after listening for a while I was able to understand at least most of what was being said.
Brandon's Mom and Dad came down to Miami to help us buy furniture and things for our apartment and get settled which was really nice of them. We were able to find couch, dining table, and dresser which are really amazing looking. It was a really big blessing that they were able to help us get set up here. I still need to decorate and make it look more like home, but it is getting closer. We also found a baby consignment store where you can buy baby things that are used for a much cheaper price so we got a swing, bouncer, mobile, and play set for the baby. He is not even here yet and is getting spoiled! haha. It's still crazy that we are here in Miami, it hasn't quite hit me that we are going to be living here for a long time. The apartment is nice though and we are lucky to be able to live here. The pool is really nice with soft music that plays by it. I love the palm trees that are all around too; its really beautiful. I'm excited to make the apartment feel like home and get settled here :)
